I love the flashes of colors among the mostly blacks and whites! Another favorite! 🙂

Those bright bits of color with the dark sky really amp up this shot.

  4. John & Lois says:

The shining windows and pops of color are fabulous in this beautiful cityscape.

I always like these cityscapes and NY is arguably the ultimate city to photograph. That’s a pretty impressive picture for a camera on a phone. How big is the original image? At full size, is there much evidence of noise?

  6. bfcphotos says:

The original image was 1.8 MB, 3218×2412. There was some noise; but the iPhone5 seems to keep it to a minimum. To reduce it in the final photo, I intensified the black and increased the contrast.

smashing development work too! The improvements in sensor technology over the last couple of years is making the quality of images from small sensors so much better. I remember my first digital compact back in 2002 and the quality of the images were dreadful. The dynamic range in this shot really emphasises how good small sensors are getting.

Fantastic shot of the city in darkness. I just love the bold colours from the Empire State Building too.

I really like this one… and will always be jealous of what you can do with an iPhone. I upgraded mine and still can’t get a decent photo.
