Wildlife: Owl

Wildlife: Owl

One of my favorite books in the whole world is T.H. White’s “The Once and Future King.” Early on, the future King Arthur meets Merlin & his owl, Archimides. Merlin tells young Wart, “Owls are among the most courteous, single-hearted and faithful creatures living.” This one was injured and can no longer survive in the wild, so it lives at Hungerford Nature Center here in Kensington, Connecticut. Taken with the Lensbaby Muse.

To me the Lensbaby makes it look like it is in mid attack, which is cool but I love Owls looking Natural. The Moari (NZ) Name Mopoke means Ghost and Silent Death all at the same time.

Love the sharp eye and the blur on the feathers. Makes this look like he/she is moving fast.

Amazing photo! Sad that he is injured but nice that he can serve as a beautiful subject for your photo. We often hear owls hooting but they are so elusive that we never see much more than a shadow. Your use of the lensbaby really had awesome results in this photo.

So much intensity in this owl’s eyes. Forever grateful for wildlife rescues.
