Spring: Incandescence

For just a few days, when the trees burst out into new leaves, they seem to glow with an inner light. They appear to be incandescent. It doesn’t last long, but it is utterly glorious. Everyone here agree that this spring–maybe because it was so long delayed–has been more vibrant than usual. The phenomenon was evident this afternoon at Paper Goods Pond.
