Countryside: View from Sleeping Giant

This is the countryside in my neck of the woods: a view from the chest of the Sleeping Giant. This is one of the higher points of the traprock ridge that runs across Connecticut. The mountain looks like a sleeping man, and the different points are identified as parts of his profile. The chest, as 710 feet, it the highest point. We climbed there yesterday. This is the view south: in the distance, you can make out the city of New Haven, Long Island Sound, and beyond it, Long Island.

I love the way the eye is drawn into the distance by the light and flowing clouds.
